LTC1595CIN8 Integrated Circuit Chip 16-Bit Multiplying DACs Digital To Analog Converter Chip PDIP-8

The LTC1595CIN8 is a serial 16-bit multiplying digital to analog converter with a current output in an 8-lead package, the C grade in 8-Lead PDIP. It is pin compatible with the industry standard 12-bit DAC8043 and AD7543, so an existing 12-bit socket can be upgraded to 16 bits without a board change.

INL and DNL are 1 LSB maximum, gain error is held to 1 LSB maximum, and glitch impulse is 1 nV-s typical. Settling to 1 LSB takes 2 microseconds when the current output is summed by an external op amp such as the LT1468.

Four-quadrant multiplication means the reference input can swing above and below zero, so the converter works as a programmable gain, attenuator or inverter stage. Power-on reset drives the DAC to zero scale, and the supply current stays at 10 microamps maximum.

A 3-wire SPI and MICROWIRE compatible serial interface carries the 16-bit word, keeping the digital side to three lines. The LTC1595CIN8 ships in 8-Lead PDIP, which suits both surface mount and through-hole assembly depending on the ordering code.
