LTC2865IDE Integrated Circuit Chip Fault Protected Full Duplex RS485 RS422 Transceiver, 12-Lead DFN

The LTC2865IDE is a low power RS485/RS422 transceiver that operates from a 3V to 5.5V supply and survives ±60V overvoltage faults on the data transmission lines in all modes of operation, including power-down. That protection removes the external crowbar and fuse networks usually needed where a field cable can be shorted to a 24V or 48V rail.

The part is full duplex with independent driver and receiver enables, and it transmits at 20Mbps or, in a logic-selectable low EMI mode, at 250kbps with slew rate limited outputs that keep radiated emissions down on long unshielded cable.

Receiver common mode range is extended to ±25V and guaranteed, with fully balanced differential thresholds so duty cycle distortion stays low, and a fail-safe receiver that holds a defined output when the bus is idle, shorted or floating. High input impedance allows up to 256 nodes on one bus.

A separate logic supply pin (VL) accepts 1.65V to 5.5V, so the transceiver can interface directly to low voltage microcontrollers without level shifters. Interface pins withstand ±15kV HBM ESD and all other pins ±8kV, drivers are current limited with thermal shutdown, and the device is pin compatible with the LT1785 and LT1791.

The LTC2865IDE is supplied in a 12-Lead DFN, 4mm x 3mm with exposed pad package and is specified over -40°C to 85°C (I grade). Every order ships as new stock with full traceability, RoHS compliant and lead free, and samples plus volume pricing are available on request.
