Product Overview: EK-XRF4-3342-V1-G XRF4 RF Accessory Kit
The XRF4 RF Accessory Kit is a modular RF front-end with 8 transmit, 8 receive, and 2 feedback channels, designed for use with the AMD Zynq™ UltraScale+™ RFSoC DFE ZCU670 and GEN 3 ZCU208 evaluation boards. Supported by AMD DFE evaluation software, this kit enables users to quickly and easily evaluate AMD chips and IP alongside their chosen RF product lines. The kit’s modular design supports a wide range of operating frequency bands and can be customized if customers wish to develop their own RF front-end solutions. The kit includes an RF slice that supports the N77 (3.3–4.2 GHz) wireless access band and can support other wireless frequency bands offered by AMD. The XRF4 RF accessory kit includes the XRF4 RF baseboard (XRF4-RFBB) and XRF4 RF slices for transmit (TX), receive (RX), and feedback (FB) processing. The XRF4-RFBB is the recommended interface board for RF evaluation using the ZCU670 and ZCU208 evaluation boards. This board enables users to easily add the entire RF product line to the RFSoC integrated RF transceiver. It features nine connectors, also known as RF slice connectors, which allow RF product line modules (slices) to be added to the evaluation board. Additionally, these connectors provide DC power, digital control via the Internal Integrated Circuit (I2C) protocol, Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI), General-Purpose I/O (GPIO), and Time Division Duplex (TDD) control for these RF slice connectors. The RF slice connectors provide a standard interface for developing RF front-end product lines (RF slices). AMD currently offers RF slices for wireless access (4/5G) in the FR1 band; however, the RF slice connector supports custom RF product line solutions for various applications, including but not limited to FR2 (millimeter wave), aerospace, satellite communications, and instrumentation. The AMD Kria™ K26 System-on-Module (SOM) serves as the RF controller for the XRF4 baseboard. The on-board physical layer (PHY) interface allows for the configuration and control of the RF controller via Ethernet.
