The new PCIe Gen 5.0 (32 GT/s) PEX89000 series builds on the longevity of the Broadcom family of switches, which now encompasses 13 series. The PEX89000 series allows customers to build systems from simple PCIe connectivity in a box to high-performance, low-latency, scalable, cost-effective PCIe fabrics for combinable hyperscale computing systems supporting ML/AI and server/storage applications. The PEX89000 switch delivers up to 1024 Gb/s (128 GB/s) of raw bandwidth per port (x16), enabling designers to:

• Create basic switch topologies at PCIe 5.0 rates (32 GT/s) to connect hosts/CPUs to I/O and peripherals in servers and storage systems
• Create cost-effective, high-availability hyperscale systems by using PCIe to communicate between hosts and endpoints in the rack

The PEX89144B0 enables I/O sharing through standard SR-IOV or multi-function capabilities, allowing multiple hosts to reside on a single PCIe fabric topology. Also included is Tunneled Windows Connection (TWC), a special low-latency host-to-host communication feature for short packets. Other features include:

• Embedded dual-core ARM
• Elimination of PCIe topology limitations
• Fan out CPU PCIe ports to connect large amounts of I/O or other subsystems in servers and storage systems. No software is required for this application.
