Description
The DLP® LightCrafter™ DLPLCRC964EVM evaluation module (EVM) provides a reference design to accelerate development of the DLPC964 controller architecture supporting DLP991U and DLP991UUV DMD chips. This platform receives high-speed bitplane data from external sources via the AMD Aurora 64B/66B interface. After formatting the bitplane data, it loads it into the DLPLCR99EVM or DLPLCR99UVEVM, ultimately displaying it on the DLP991U or DLP991UUV DMD.

1 DLPLCRC964EVM Evaluation Module Overview
1.1 Introduction
The TI DLP DLPC964 graphical user interface supports evaluation of the DLPLCRC964EVM (DLPC964 controller board), DLPLCR99EVM (DLP991U DMD board), DLPLCR99UVEVM (DLP991UUV DMD board), and application FPGA (AMD EVM). The DLPC964EVM incorporates fixed test patterns that can be loaded onto the DLP991U or DLP991UUV DMD chip and provides the necessary interfaces to display these patterns on the supported DMD. The front-end AMD EVM connects to the DLPC964 controller, transmitting high-speed pattern data to the supported DMD EVM (DLPC99EVM or DLPC99UVEVM).
Note
The DLPLCRC964EVM (DMD EVM), DLPLCR99UVEVM (DMD EVM), AMD Xilinx™ Virtex™-7 evaluation board (application FPGA), optical components, light source, and power supply are not included in the DLPLCRC964EVM kit and must be purchased separately.
1.2 Kit Contents
The DLPLCRC964EVM is a flexible, ready-to-use evaluation module. When used with either the DLPLCR99EVM or DLPLCR99UVEVM (including the application FPGA board), the DLPLCRC964EVM enables the transmission of customer-defined patterns to the DLPC964 controller for display on the connected DLP991U or DLP991UUV DMD. The DLP LightCrafter DLPC964EVM and the corresponding DLP991U or DLP991UUV DMD EVM can be purchased separately, allowing customers to select the required components based on their application needs.
1.3 Specifications
The DLPLCRC964EVM incorporates an electronic module capable of controlling DLP991U DMDs. This evaluation board offers multiple interface options, including USB, I2C, HPC FMC connectors, and flexible cable interfaces. Figure 1-1 displays the hardware block diagram of the DLPLCRC964EVM.

• Power management unit supporting the DLPC964 subsystem
• DLPC964 configuration flash memory
• USB 2.0 interface
• Flexible cables—four required to support the DLP991U DMD evaluation board
