The ADSP-21489 in the fourth-generation SHARC processor family offers higher performance (450 MHz/2700 MFLOPs) in an LQFP package. This level of performance makes the ADSP-21489 particularly well suited to meet the needs of the car audio and industrial control sectors. In addition to the powerful core performance, the ADSP-21489 includes other processing modules such as FIR, IIR, and FFT accelerators to further improve overall system performance. The device features a new feature called Variable Instruction Set Architecture (VISA), which enables code reductions of 20 to 30 percent and increases memory size availability. The fourth-generation DSPs can connect to external memory by providing a seamless interface to 16-bit wide SDR SDRAM.
