[Introduction] With the rapid growth of edge computing and AI vision technology, traditional frame-based image sensors have reached their limits when processing high-speed motion and high dynamic range scenes. As a seasoned provider with nearly three decades of experience in the electronic component distribution sector, Shenzhen Mingjiada Electronics Co., Ltd. now offers a long-term supply of SONY’s Event-Based Vision Sensor (EVS) series to global customers, including core models such as the IMX636 and IMX637. We provide genuine, factory-direct products and maintain in-stock inventory to help your industrial automation, security surveillance, and smart transportation systems achieve microsecond-level response times.
What is an Event-Based Vision Sensor (EVS)?
Traditional image sensors capture images in “frames,” outputting massive amounts of redundant data regardless of whether the scene has changed. This not only wastes computing power but also increases system latency.
Sony’s Event-Based Vision Sensor (EVS), however, is a biomimetic vision sensor. It mimics the working principle of the human retina, monitoring only pixels within the field of view where brightness changes occur, and outputting coordinate and time information in “event” units.
This technological approach delivers three revolutionary advantages:
Ultra-low latency: Latency is typically in the microsecond range (e.g., the IMX636 has a latency of less than 100 microseconds at 1000 lux), far faster than the millisecond-level response of traditional cameras.
Extremely low data redundancy: Compared to traditional image sensors, data volume is reduced by approximately 90%, and power consumption is extremely low (static power consumption as low as 2.2 mW), making it highly suitable for edge computing scenarios.
Ultra-high dynamic range: Even in scenes with drastic changes from low light (<1 lux) to strong light (>100k lux), it can stably capture object outlines without motion blur or overexposure.
Core Models in Stock: IMX636 and IMX637
Mingjiada Electronics currently maintains ample stock of Sony EVS sensors, covering both high-definition flagship models and low-power embedded models to meet development needs at various levels.

In addition, Mingjiada offers upgraded IMX646/IMX647 models. This series features enhanced noise suppression in low-light conditions, making it an ideal choice for next-generation AI edge vision devices.
Application Scenarios: From Industry 4.0 to Smart Healthcare
Sony’s EVS technology is rapidly replacing traditional vision solutions. Its application areas include, but are not limited to:
Industrial Machine Vision: On high-speed assembly lines, EVS can detect defects in rotating components spinning at tens of thousands of revolutions per second without motion blur—a major limitation of traditional frame-based exposure.
Smart Healthcare and Security: EVS-based fall detection devices capture only skeletal movements without recording facial images, enabling sub-second alarm responses while physically protecting personal privacy, making them highly suitable for nursing homes and high-privacy settings.
Autonomous Driving and Robotics: EVS’s high dynamic range enables clear visibility of road conditions when entering or exiting tunnels (where lighting changes abruptly), while its low latency allows robotic arms to grasp moving objects in real time.
