The BTS3160D is a latchable single-channel low-side power switch housed in a PG-TO-252-5-13 package, featuring embedded protection functions. The power transistor is constructed using an N-channel vertical power MOSFET. The device is controlled by a smart power technology control chip. The BTS3160D device can switch various resistive, inductive, and capacitive loads. For lighting loads, the inrush current of the lamp must be considered, which is 8 to 10 times the rated current. The maximum inrush current must be lower than the minimum short-circuit shutdown current. ESD protection for the VS and IN/Fault pins is ground-related.
The BTS3160D is powered by the VS pin. This pin can be connected to the battery circuit. The power supply voltage is monitored by an under-voltage lockout circuit. Even with a 3.3 V input signal, the gate drive unit enables the device to operate within a low-ohm range. For PWM applications, the BTS3160D device provides smooth turn-on and turn-off through an embedded edge-shaping function to reduce electromagnetic compatibility noise.
