The CY8C4146AZI-S423 is a member of the PSoC™ 4 platform’s scalable architecture. It is not a traditional MCU but rather a programmable embedded system-on-chip. It combines a 48 MHz 32-bit ARM Cortex-M0+ core, standard communication peripherals, and unique programmable analog and digital modules.

 

This chip is particularly well-suited for applications requiring high-performance capacitive touch sensing. Its fourth-generation CAPSENSE™ technology delivers a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) exceeding 300:1, offering exceptional noise immunity and liquid tolerance to ensure the reliability of touch buttons, sliders, and proximity sensing even in noisy or humid environments.

 

CY8C4146AZI-S423 Key Features

Core and Memory: ARM Cortex-M0+ CPU, clocked at up to 48 MHz, with 64 KB of flash memory and 8 KB of SRAM.

Capacitive Sensing: Supports self-capacitance and mutual-capacitance sensing, with automatic hardware calibration (SmartSense) to optimize sensitivity without manual firmware adjustments.

Analog and Digital Peripherals:

12-bit 1-Msps SAR ADC and 10-bit ramp ADC.

2x operational amplifiers (configurable as PGA, comparators, etc.) and 2x current-to-digital converters (IDAC).

5x 16-bit timer/counter/PWM modules, 3x serial communication modules (configurable as I2C, SPI, or UART).

Smart I/O: The unique Smart I/O feature enables basic digital logic at the pin level, reducing the need for external logic chips.

Wide-voltage operation: Supports supply voltages from 1.71 V to 5.5 V, making it suitable for battery-powered devices.

Package and Temperature: 48-TQFP package (7x7 mm), industrial-grade temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.
