USB3320C-EZK Device Description

The USB3320C-EZK is a highly integrated, full-featured, high-speed USB 2.0 transceiver based on Microchip's proven ULPI interface.The USB3320C-EZK is available in a convenient 5 x 5 mm QFN package, providing an extremely flexible solution. It supports a variety of different single reference clock frequencies and accepts clocks from both crystal/resonator and ULPI 60Mhz Clock-In modes. Like previous generations of USB transceivers from Microchip, the USB3320C-EZK integrates USB switches and ESD and VBUS overvoltage protection devices.

USB3320C-EZK Features

• Integrated ESD protection circuitry
• Up to ±15kV IEC air discharge, no external devices required
• Overvoltage protection circuitry (OVP) protects the VBUS pin from continuous DC voltages up to 30V
• Integrated USB switch
• No degradation of high-speed electrical characteristics
• Allows connection of a single USB port by providing the following switching features
• Battery charging
• Stereo and Mono/Microphone Audio
• USB full speed/low speed data
• flexPWR® technology
• Low current design ideal for battery powered applications
• Sleep’ mode tri-states all ULPI pins and keeps parts in a low-current state
• 1.8V to 3.3V input voltage (±10)
• Integrated battery to 3.3V regulator
• 2.2uF bypass capacitor
• 100mV voltage drop
• Package-less’ design optimises timing performance and simplifies design
• Low-latency high-speed receiver (up to 43 high-speed clocks) allows use of legacy UTMI links with ULPI bridges
• Optional Reference Clock Frequencies
• Frequency 12, 13, 19.2, 24, 26, 27, 38.4, 52, or 60MHz - pin selectable
• External reference clock can be used
• ULPI Input Clock Mode (60MHz sourced from link)
• 0 to 3.6V input drive tolerance
• Accepts ‘noisy’ clock source as reference clock for internal low-jitter PLLs
• Provides internal oscillator operation
• This mode requires an external quartz crystal or ceramic resonator
• Intelligent detection circuitry identifies USB charger, headphone or cable insertion
• Fully supports the optional On-The-Go (OTG) protocol as detailed in the On-The-Go Supplement Revision 2.0 specification
• Supports headphone audio mode
• Supports OTG Host Negotiation Protocol (HNP) and Session Request Protocol (SRP)
• UART mode for non-USB serial data transfer
• Internal 5V cable short circuit protection protects ID, DP and DM lines to VBUS or ground
• Industrial operating temperature -40C to +85C
• RoHS-compliant 32-pin QFN package (5 x 5 x 0.90 mm high)
