Scope of Acquisition: Covers the Full Range of ESP32 Multi-Protocol Modules and SoC Products
Mingjiada Electronics has announced a long-term acquisition of Espressif Systems’ full range of multi-protocol wireless communication modules, development boards, and wireless SoC chips, with the acquisition focusing on the following core product lines:
I. General-Purpose Multi-Protocol Wireless Communication Modules
The ESP32-C6-WROOM series is one of the core products in Mingjiada’s acquisition. The ESP32-C6 is Espressif’s first Wi-Fi 6-enabled SoC solution, integrating multi-protocol wireless capabilities including 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), Bluetooth 5 (LE), and 802.15.4 (Zigbee/Thread). It is suitable for high-end application scenarios such as smart homes and industrial automation that require complex network connectivity. Its Wi-Fi 6 technology uses OFDMA to dynamically allocate available bandwidth resources to multiple users, optimizing the utilization of system resources in large-scale IoT scenarios. This series of modules includes models such as the ESP32-C6-WROOM-1 (with an onboard PCB antenna) and the ESP32-C6-WROOM-1U (with an external antenna interface), and has a wide range of application needs in fields such as smart home gateways, industrial IoT terminals, and smart lighting.
The ESP32-H2-MINI series is one of the key products in this acquisition. The ESP32-H2 is a combo module supporting dual-mode wireless functionality with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 5 and IEEE 802.15.4. It features a RISC-V architecture CPU and is optimized for compatibility with the latest Matter smart home protocol, making it an ideal choice for building Thread end devices, edge routers, and Matter bridges. The ESP32-H2 module features a compact design and is pin-compatible with other Espressif MINI series modules, making it suitable for a wide range of applications, including Thread border routers, Zigbee bridges, and Matter-over-Thread smart home devices.
The ESPHY-P/C series and ESP8684 series, as representative entry-level IoT wireless modules, cover multiple technology generations from Wi-Fi 4 to Wi-Fi 6 and are widely used in consumer electronics such as smart sensors, smart home appliances, and smart lighting.
II. ESP32-C5 Series Dual-Band Wi-Fi 6 Modules for High-Speed Communication Needs
The ESP32-C5 series is the industry’s first RISC-V SoC product supporting dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), which ECS will begin mass production of in April 2025. The ESP32-C5 features a RISC-V 32-bit single-core processor with a clock speed of up to 240 MHz. In addition to supporting dual-band Wi-Fi 6, it integrates Bluetooth 5 (LE) and 802.15.4 (Zigbee, Thread) protocol stacks. It features key Wi-Fi 6 capabilities such as Target Wake Time (TWT), uplink and downlink OFDMA, downlink multi-user MIMO, and BSS coloring mechanisms, enabling high-efficiency, low-latency, and stable connections in congested wireless network environments.
Based on the ESP32-C5 SoC, Espressif has launched the ESP32-C5-WROOM-1/U general-purpose modules. These modules support dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5 (LE), Zigbee, and Thread. Their rich peripheral interfaces and high performance make them an ideal choice for smart home, industrial automation, healthcare, and consumer electronics applications. The ESP32-C5 series is currently experiencing rapid market penetration. Due to high product scarcity and strong demand for accelerated distribution, Mingjiada Electronics has identified it as the top priority product line in this acquisition.
III. Specialized Application Development Boards and SoC Chips
Mingjiada’s acquisition scope also covers several specialized application development boards. The ESP32-P4-Function-EV-Board is built on Espressif’s first dual-core RISC-V microcontroller without built-in wireless functionality, the ESP32-P4. With a clock speed of up to 400MHz, it focuses on high-performance computing and multimedia processing, supporting H.264 encoding, MIPI camera, and display interfaces. It serves as an ideal platform for developing low-cost, high-performance human-machine interfaces (HMIs) and networked audio-video products. The ESP-DualKey is a smart dual-key controller development board based on the ESP32-S3 chip. It integrates three operating modes—smart home control, Bluetooth keyboard, and USB keyboard—and features RGB lighting effects and battery management functions.
In addition, the acquisition covers the full range of development boards and evaluation kits for the ESP32-S3 (AIoT-specialized), ESP32-S2, the full range of development boards and evaluation kits, including the ESP32-C3, ESP32, and ESP8266.
The ESP32-C3 series modules and development kits have also been included in this acquisition. The ESP32-C3 series modules integrate 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5 (LE) functionality, including the ESP32-C3-MINI-1, ESP32-C3-WROOM-02, as well as the ESP32-C3-AWS-ExpressLink-DevKit (developed in collaboration between Espressif and Amazon AWS, supporting out-of-the-box AWS IoT Core connectivity), which can be widely applied in various IoT application scenarios.
