1. Details: The LTC4301 is a power-independent, hot-swappable two-wire bus buffer that allows I/O cards to be inserted into or removed from a live backplane without damaging the data and clock buses. The LTC4301 is available in 8-pin DFN (3mm x 3mm) and MSOP packages. When the backplane is connected to the plug-in board, the LTC4301 provides bidirectional buffering, thereby maintaining isolation between the backplane and the capacitance of the plug-in board.

Allows line pull-up voltages higher or lower than VCC
Bidirectional buffers for SDA and SCL lines* increase fan-out
