The LTC4380 low quiescent current surge suppressor protects the load from damage caused by high-voltage transients. It provides overvoltage protection by clamping the gate voltage of an external N-channel MOSFET to limit the output voltage to a safe level during overvoltage events (such as load dump conditions in automotive applications). Fixed gate clamping voltages are available for 12V and 24V/28V systems. For any system with voltages up to 72V, the adjustable gate clamping version should be used. The device also provides overcurrent protection.
