Details: The NLA9555 device provides 16-bit general-purpose parallel input/output (GPIO) expansion via the I²C bus/SMBus. The NLA9535 comprises two 8-bit configuration registers (for selecting input or output), input and output registers, and a polarity inversion register (active-high or active-low operation). Upon power-up, all I/Os are set to input by default. Each I/O can be configured as an input or output by writing data to the corresponding I/O configuration bit.
