Mingjiada Supply/Recycle ADI ADXL345 Low Power 3-Axis Digital Accelerometer, For UAV Flight Control And Inertial sensing

Shenzhen Mingjiada Electronics Co., Ltd. — Long-term provider of spot supply and stock buy-back services for the ADI (Analog Devices) ADXL345 three-axis digital accelerometer. This device is a low-power MEMS digital accelerometer supporting a measurement range of ±2g to ±16g, suitable for applications such as attitude data acquisition in drone flight control systems, tilt detection, vibration monitoring and the disposal of surplus electronic components.

Product Overview: ADXL345 Low-Power Triaxial Digital Accelerometer

The ADXL345 is a compact and slim low-power triaxial accelerometer capable of high-resolution (13-bit) measurements of acceleration up to ±16g. The digital output data is in 16-bit two’s complement format and can be accessed via SPI (3-wire or 4-wire) or I²C digital interfaces.

The ADXL345 is ideally suited for mobile device applications. It can measure static gravitational acceleration in tilt-detection applications, as well as dynamic acceleration caused by motion or impact. Its high resolution (4 mg/LSB) enables it to measure tilt changes of less than 1.0°.

The ADXL345’s low-power mode supports motion-based intelligent power management, enabling threshold sensing and motion acceleration measurement whilst consuming minimal power.

The ADXL345 is housed in a 3 mm × 5 mm × 1 mm LGA package. Its digital outputs can be read via I²C or SPI (3-wire/4-wire) and can serve as an accelerometer node within a drone’s inertial measurement unit (IMU), or be combined with gyroscopes and magnetometers to perform attitude estimation.

ADXL345 Key Specifications and Features:

Measurement axes: Digital output on three axes (X, Y, Z)

Range: ±2g, ±4g, ±8g, ±16g, switchable via serial commands

Resolution: 10-bit fixed mode; increases with range at full resolution, up to 13 bits at ±16g

Scale factor: 4 mg/LSB across the full range (typical at full resolution)

Output format: 16-bit two’s complement

Interface: I²C, SPI (3-wire/4-wire)

Supply voltage: 2.0 V–3.6 V; I/O voltage 1.7 V–VS

Power consumption: As low as 23 μA in measurement mode and approximately 0.1 μA in standby mode under typical 2.5 V conditions; power consumption adjusts automatically with bandwidth

Data Rate and Bandwidth: Configurable output data rate; bandwidth varies with ODR configuration

Integrated Functions: Single-tap/double-tap detection, active/inactive monitoring, free-fall detection

Buffer: 32-level FIFO to reduce the host’s polling load

Temperature Range: −40°C to +85°C (commercial/industrial standard models); the ADXL345-EP extended model supports a wider temperature range and aerospace/defence applications

Shock Resistance: 10,000g

Package: 14-pin plastic LGA, 3mm × 5mm × 1mm

Typical Applications of the ADXL345 in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Systems

The ADXL345 provides static gravity components and dynamic motion acceleration, and is commonly used in the following areas:

Flight Control Attitude Reference: Captures three-axis acceleration to provide pitch and roll compensation in conjunction with gyroscopes; It can assist with tilt estimation during low-speed flight or hovering.

Tilt and Level Calibration: In high-resolution mode, it can detect tilt changes of less than 1°, making it suitable for initial levelling of ground stations and gimbal reference calibration.

Vibration Acquisition: Collects airframe vibration data via FIFO and a configurable ODR to assist in assessing propeller dynamic balance and loose motor mountings.

Free-fall and anomaly detection: Triggers alarms for aircraft loss, free-fall or drops during transport, and logs events in conjunction with the flight controller.

Low-power standby: Standby current of 0.1 μA makes it suitable for portable test terminals, unmanned nodes and backup attitude recorders.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1: What measurement range should be selected for drones performing high-intensity manoeuvres?
For standard aerial photography, a range of ±2g/±4g is recommended; for racing, aerobatics and take-off/landing impact monitoring, a range of ±8g/±16g is recommended, with a margin of safety based on the actual maximum acceleration.
Q2: Is the ADXL345 still suitable for new designs?
The ADXL345 is a mature three-axis digital accelerometer, suitable for maintenance, replacement, educational purposes and certain low-cost solutions. It may also be evaluated for new designs depending on requirements.
Q3: Does Mingjiada Electronics supply genuine ADXL345 components?
Mingjiada Electronics supplies genuine components sourced through authorised channels; specific batch, packaging and testing information can be confirmed upon enquiry.
Q4: Do you support sample and bulk purchases?
We support sample requests and bulk purchases, subject to stock availability and commercial confirmation.
Q5: What information is required for ADXL345 returns?
The full model suffix, quantity, production batch number, photos of the packaging, humidity sensitivity status, whether the packaging has been opened, and proof of purchase.
