The TLE8209-2E is an SPI programmable H-bridge designed to control DC motors in safety-critical automotive applications.The TLE8209-2E features four selectable current ranges, two selectable slew rate settings, and extensive diagnostics via SPI. The device monitors the digital supply voltage, VDD, and shuts down the output stage when VDD is over- or under-voltage, providing a safe shutdown path in the event of a digital control circuit failure. To reduce power consumption under extreme thermal conditions, the current limit threshold decreases linearly when the junction temperature exceeds 165°C. A thermal warning bit is set in the SPI. The two half-bridges can also be used independently to drive two separate loads, such as solenoids or unidirectional DC motors.
