【MP5025CGQV Key Features and Functions】
Precision Current Monitoring and Current Limiting
A key feature of the MP5025CGQV is its high-precision current monitoring capability. It generates a voltage signal (IMON) proportional to the current flowing through the power device, set via an external resistor. Current monitoring accuracy achieves ±3% within the 6A to 15A range, providing reliable real-time current data for the system.
The MP5025CGQV also offers an adjustable current limit function, configurable via a low-power resistor between the ISET pin and ground. This design grants designers flexibility to tailor overcurrent protection thresholds to system requirements.
Rapid Response and Comprehensive Protection
The MP5025CGQV integrates multiple protection mechanisms, including overcurrent protection (OCP), overvoltage protection (OVP), undervoltage protection (UVP), thermal shutdown, and MOSFET damage detection. Its short-circuit protection exhibits exceptionally fast response times, reacting within 200ns of detecting a short-circuit event to effectively prevent fault propagation.
The MP5025CGQV also provides a Power Good (PG) detector and Fault (FLTB) indication for system monitoring and fault diagnosis. Furthermore, it incorporates input-to-output short-circuit detection and a programmable LOADEN blanking time function, further enhancing system reliability.
Soft Start and Control
The MP5025CGQV controls voltage slew rate during start-up via an external soft-start capacitor, effectively limiting inrush current. An internal charge pump drives the power device gates, ensuring efficient turn-on of low-on-resistance power FETs.

【MP5025CGQV Operating Principle and Technical Advantages】
The MP5025CGQV limits inrush current during start-up by restricting the output voltage slew rate, controlled by an external capacitor connected to the SS pin.
Maximum output load current is limited by detecting the FET topology, with the current limit magnitude controlled by a low-power resistor between ISET and ground. An internal charge pump drives the power device gates, enabling switching of power FETs with extremely low on-resistance (3mΩ).
The MP5025CGQV also incorporates an IMON option, generating a voltage proportional to the current flowing through the power device, set by the resistance between IMON and ground. Its comprehensive protection features include current limiting, thermal shutdown, MOSFET damage detection, overvoltage protection (OVP), and undervoltage protection (UVP).
【MP5025CGQV Application Scenarios】
The MP5025CGQV is widely employed in applications requiring hot-swap functionality and circuit protection:
Hot-swap devices: Enables component replacement without power interruption, enhancing system availability.
Servers and network equipment: Safeguards critical infrastructure against power anomalies, ensuring continuous, stable operation.
Data storage systems: Such as disk drive arrays, preventing transient currents during hot-swapping from damaging equipment.
Laptops and PC cards: Providing reliable power management and protection for portable devices.
