Core Architecture of the REAL3™ Product Series

REAL3™ is a joint development between Infineon and pmdtechnologies AG. This iToF (indirect time-of-flight) 3D imaging product series, manufactured using Infineon's patented ToF-optimized CMOS process. It highly integrates pmd's high-performance ToF pixel matrix, fully digital readout circuitry, high-speed interface, and intelligent controller onto a single chip. This delivers precise depth data based on “measurement, not estimation,” with significantly lower computational load compared to structured light or stereo vision solutions.

 

Core Model Specifications

Consumer / Industrial Core Models

IRS2877C: VGA resolution (352×288), single-chip integration of ToF sensing and signal processing, built-in background suppression (SBI) circuitry for stable depth imaging under strong light, suitable for mid-range 3D scanning and interactive scenarios.

IRS2975C/IRS2976C: Optimized for power consumption and package size, supports Region of Interest (ROI) configuration, suitable for mobile devices and compact industrial sensors, reducing system BOM costs.

Compatible Laser Drivers

IRS9102C/IRS9103A: Specifically designed for REAL3™ sensors, supporting high modulation frequencies (up to 100MHz). Efficiently drives VCSEL arrays, reduces thermal requirements, and enhances module stability.
