PCA9505DGGY Device Overview
The PCA9505 provides 40-bit parallel input/output (I/O) port expansion for I²C bus applications in 5 groups of 8 I/O. The outputs are capable of pulling out 10 mA and puddling in 15 mA at a 5 V supply voltage, allowing 40 LEDs to be directly driven at a total package load of 600 mA. Any of the 40 I/O ports can be configured as input or outputs. The output ports are totem pole and their logic state changes on Acknowledge (group change). The PCA9505 is identical to the PCA9506 except for the 100 kΩ internal pull-up resistors on all I/Os.
The device can be configured to mask each input port to prevent interrupts from being generated when its state changes, or to invert the I/O data logic state when read by the system master.
The open-drain interrupt output pin (1) allows the input pins to be monitored and specified each time one or more of the input ports changes (unless masked).
The output enable (1) pin can specify the tri-state of any I/O selected as an output and can be used as an input signal to blink or dim an LED (PWM with frequency > 80 Hz and changing duty cycle).
An internal power-on reset (POR) or hardware reset (1) pin initialises 40 I/Os as inputs. Three address selection pins configure one of eight slave addresses.
