Qualcomm has announced a new generation of Wi-Fi chips, the QCA64x8 for infrastructure network facilities, fixed wireless devices and the QCA64x1 for mobile products, with the former debuting the QCA6438/QCA6428 and the latter debuting the QCA6421 and QCA6431.
This generation of Wi-Fi chips is based on the 802.11ay specification and does not belong to the sixth generation of the IEEE orthodox Wi-Fi 802.11ax family, but is an evolution of the first generation of 60GHz Wi-Fi 802.11ad (also known as WiGig).
