The ADF4158WCCPZ is a 6.1 GHz fractional-N crossover frequency synthesizer with modulation and waveform generation capability, containing a 25-bit fixed modulus to provide sub-Hertz frequency resolution at 6.1 GHz. It consists of a low-noise digital frequency discriminator (PFD), a precision charge pump and a programmable reference divider. The device has a built-in sigma-delta type fractional interpolator that enables a programmable modulo fractional N divider.The INT and FRAC registers can form a total N divider (N = INT + (FRAC/225).
The ADF4158WCCPZ can be used to implement frequency shift keying (FSK) and phase shift keying (PSK) modulation. There are also a number of frequency sweep modes available to generate a variety of waveforms in the frequency domain, such as sawtooth and triangular waves.The ADF4158 features a weekly hop reduction circuit that further reduces lock-on time without modifying the loop filter.
