Recently, Mingjiada Electronics commenced supply of the Skyworks SI52144-A01AGMR PCI-Express quad-output clock generator. This high-performance clock generator chip finds extensive application in electronic devices such as network-attached storage units, multifunction printers, wireless access points, and routers.
SI52144-A01AGMR Overview
The SI52144-A01AGMR is a high-precision PCI Express clock generator IC housed in a compact 24-QFN package (4mm x 4mm). It operates stably within an industrial-grade temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. Its wide supply voltage range of 3.135V to 3.465V enables adaptation to diverse application requirements.
As a fully programmable clock generator, the SI52144-A01AGMR integrates all necessary external termination resistors, significantly reducing the number of external components, bill of materials (BOM) cost, and PCB footprint. This makes it an ideal solution for space-constrained applications.
01 Product Specifications
The SI52144-A01AGMR is a spread-spectrum-enabled PCIe clock generator compliant with PCI-Express Gen 1, Gen 2, Gen 3, and Gen 4 universal clock specifications.
Housed in a 24-QFN (4x4) package, it operates within a -40°C to 85°C temperature range, making it suitable for industrial environments.
The SI52144-A01AGMR delivers four independent PCIe clock signals with a ratio input:output of 1:4 and a maximum frequency of 100MHz.
Operating within a voltage range of 3.135V to 3.465V, this chip integrates a PLL (Phase-Locked Loop), supports clock and crystal inputs, and outputs in HCSL (High-Speed Current-Driven Logic) format.
02 Product Features
The SI52144-A01AGMR incorporates several advanced features, including dedicated hardware enable pins for each clock output and independent spread spectrum control pins.
Beyond hardware control, the device supports I²C programming to dynamically adjust PCIe clock output offset, edge rate, and amplitude, optimising signal integrity and electromagnetic interference characteristics.
The SI52144-A01AGMR employs triangular spread spectrum characteristics to minimise electromagnetic interference (EMI) whilst eliminating the need for terminating resistors, thereby simplifying circuit design.
The chip also complies with the PCIe Gen 3 SRNS specification and supports 100 MHz Serial ATA (SATA), offering broad application scope.
03 Application Areas
The SI52144-A01AGMR primarily targets electronic devices requiring high-performance clock synchronisation.
Within network-attached storage devices, it delivers precise clock signals for data transmission, ensuring stable storage system operation.
Within multifunctional printer systems, the SI52144-A01AGMR coordinates data transmission timing across modules, enhancing overall printing efficiency.
This device is also extensively employed in network equipment such as wireless access points and routers, delivering a reliable clock source for communication interfaces.
