VN5E160ASTR Description

The VN5E160ASTR is a single-channel high-side driver manufactured using ST's proprietary VIPower™ M0-5 technology in a small SO-8 package.Designed to drive 12 V automotive grounded loads, the VN5E160ASTR provides protection, diagnostics, and a 3 V and 5 V CMOS interface compatible with any microcontroller.

The VN5E160ASTR device incorporates advanced protection features such as load current limiting, active management of inrush and overload through power limiting, over-temperature shutdown with auto-restart, and active clamping of overvoltage. Each output channel has a dedicated analogue current sense pin to provide advanced diagnostic features including fast detection of overloads and ground shorts via power limiting indication, overheating indication, VCC short circuit diagnostics, and on and off state open load detection. Current detection and diagnostic feedback can be disabled for the entire device by pulling the CS_DIS pin high to share the external detection resistor with other similar devices.
