【ADI】Demonstration Circuit DC1717B employs the LTC4417 to arbitrate between three input power rails, selecting the highest-priority active power source to supply the load. Power rail priority is defined by the input connections (V1-V3). Each power rail features overvoltage and undervoltage thresholds set by external resistors. Should the highest priority power rail voltage exceed its defined window (overvoltage or undervoltage), the next highest priority (available) power rail is enabled to supply the load. Two or more LTC4417 devices may be cascaded to switch between more than three power cabinets.

Scalability: Two or more LTC4417 devices may be cascaded to support more than three power supply channels

 

The DC1717B is designed to operate from 12V, 5V, and 8V inputs applied to the V1, V2, and V3 ports respectively. Each power supply has an effective range of ±20%, set by the OV and UV comparators and their associated resistor dividers. V1 has the highest priority, V3 the lowest. When the highest priority input is within its effective range, that input is selected to supply the output. The V1, V2, and V3 inputs feature ±42V input glitch protection. The maximum load current is 2A, limited by MOSFET performance.
