EVAL-FAN-XMC-PFD7 motor drive demonstration board is designed for AC input voltages, delivering up to 100W maximum output power to drive three-phase brushless DC/permanent magnet synchronous motors. It supports sensorless FOC mode suitable for fan and pump applications. This functionality is achieved through the integration of CoolMOS™ PFD7 power devices and an XMC1000 microcontroller within the EVAL-FAN-XMC-PFD7.
EVAL-FAN-XMC-PFD7 not only provides an SR algorithm to mitigate reverse current hard commutation stress and enable sensorless FOC control, but this algorithm also allows users to adjust the switching frequency and switch between two-phase or three-phase modulation schemes (seven-segment Space Vector Modulation SVM or five-segment SVM). This design effectively reduces switching losses and electromagnetic interference characteristics, enhancing overall efficiency to achieve a reliable and compact system architecture. Minimised bill of materials (BOM) is achieved whilst meeting the minimum requirements for the target application.
