【About photovoltaic isolators】

Infineon’s photovoltaic isolators (PVI) offer single and dual-channel, optically-isolated outputs that can be used to directly drive the gates of discrete power MOSFETs or IGBTs. This range of devices gives designers the flexibility to create custom solid-state relays capable of controlling loads in excess of more than 1000 V and 10 A.

 

Photo-voltaic isolators employ fast turn-off circuitry. No power supply is needed on the output side unlike conventional MOSFET or IGBT drivers. The dual-channel PVI can drive independent discrete power MOSFETs or provide higher voltage drive for IGBTs.

 

【About photovoltaic relays】

Infineon photovoltaic relays (PVR) are remotely-controlled switches with complete galvanic isolation from input to output. No power supply is needed on the output. PVRs are suitable for switching low-level signal loads in instrumentation and data acquisition to medium power loads in industrial controls and process automation. This includes switching from microvolts and microamps to 400 V (AC peak or DC) and up to 6.0 A of load current at a contact resistance as low as 15 milliohms. PVRs utilize power MOSFETs or IGBTs as the output switches, driven by an integrated circuit photovoltaic generator. The output switch is controlled by radiation from an LED, which is optically isolated from the photovoltaic generator. This isolation protects users from electrical shocks and electronics like microprocessors from damage caused by high-voltage spikes.
