Hiper
The Hiper families of ICs are multi-die, heat-sinkable (through metal heat sink or copper foil of the PCB), SIP or SMD packaged modules for offline power supplies from 75 W to 400 W. They incorporate the controllers and high voltage switches needed to implement power factor correction and high voltage DC/DC conversion for a variety of applications including LED lighting, PC and TV power, video game power, printers, copiers and power tool chargers.
Supported topologies are CCM/DCM boost PFC, Two-Switch Forward and resonant half bridge (LLC). The Hiper products are characterized by very low component count, high reliability, broad feature set, thermal protection and electrical self and load protection. Developers benefit from highly compact system implementations, simple heatsink attachment, low EMI and smaller magnetic components.
InnoMux
The InnoMux-2 family of single-stage, independently regulated multi-output offline power-supply ICs consolidate AC-DC and downstream DC-DC conversion stages into a single chip.
Elimination of separate DC-DC stages slashes component count, reduces PCB footprint and increases efficiency by as much as 10 percentage points compared to traditional two-stage architectures. Efficiency is aided by the ICs’ PowiGaN gallium-nitride transistors, zero-voltage switching (without an active clamp) and synchronous rectification.
The InnoMux family includes the industry's first power devices to feature a 1700 V GaN switch. The high voltage rating achieved by PowiGaN technology marks a watershed moment in the advancement of GaN power electronics, making it possible for GaN devices to replace costly silicon carbide (SiC) transistors in applications such as automotive chargers, solar inverters, three-phase meters and other industrial power systems. The new IC easily supports 1000 VDC nominal sources and achieves 90% efficiency for up to 70 W.
InnoSwitch
The InnoSwitch Family of ICs combines primary, secondary and feedback circuits in a single surface-mounted off-line flyback switcher IC. The InnoSwitch IC incorporates a high-voltage primary-side switch, the primary-side controller, a secondary-side controller for synchronous rectification and an innovative new FluxLink technology that eliminates the need for an optocoupler.
PowiGaN is Power Integrations’ internally developed gallium nitride (GaN) technology. PowiGaN switches replace the traditional silicon transistors on the primary side, reducing switching losses and enabling power supplies that are more efficient, smaller and lighter than silicon alternatives. PowiGaN-based ICs achieve up to 95% efficiency across the full load range and up to 100 W in enclosed adapter implementations without requiring a heatsink.
LinkSwitch
The LinkSwitch families of ICs are low power offline switchers that incorporate both a high-accuracy controller and high voltage MOSFET into a single low pin-count package. LinkSwitch devices use simple ON/OFF controllers, which are highly suitable for applications where light-load/no-load efficiency is a key specification requirement. They are optimized for isolated flyback power supplies and, in a non-isolated variant, for low-current offline buck applications. The LinkSwitch families leverage a variety of feedback strategies such as Primary Side Regulated (PSR), classical opto feedback and direct measurement of the output voltage.
LinkSwitch ICs are used in a number of applications such as: chargers, adapters, large and small appliances, consumer audio/video systems, utility meters, and a wide variety of industrial bias supplies. LinkSwitch-XT2 and LinkSwitch-TN2 are available with 900 V primary MOSFETs for three-phase industrial power supplies and high-quality consumer products destined for regions with high and unstable mains grids, tropical regions with frequent lightning strikes or any area where high-energy ring-waves and surges are prevalent.
LinkSwitch ICs are used in LED low power applications such as small bulbs. They are also extremely useful in bias supplies and for standby in larger applications and logic drivers for smart lighting.
