Shenzhen Mingjiada Electronics Co., Ltd. as a professional electronic components distributor, has been supplying TDK InvenSense ICM-20602 - a high-performance 6-axis MEMS motion tracking sensor, which is widely used in the fields of consumer electronics, Internet of Things (IoT), wearable devices and industrial control.
ICM-20602 Product Overview
The ICM-20602 is an integrated 6-axis motion tracking device that combines a 3-axis gyroscope and a 3-axis accelerometer in a small 3mm x 3mm x 0.75mm 16-pin LGA package. It is based on InvenSense's proprietary MEMS process technology and advanced low power 9-axis sensor fusion algorithms, and offers high sensitivity and low noise motion detection. InvenSense The product can be used in a wide range of applications such as smartphones, tablets, wearable devices, IoT devices, AR/VR devices, game controllers, drones, robots, and automotive electronics, etc., and can realise functions such as screen auto-rotation, motion-sensing games, step counting, gesture control, and motion pattern recognition.
Working Principle
Accelerometer: The accelerometer of ICM-20602 senses the external acceleration through a tiny cantilever structure. When the object moves and generates acceleration, the cantilever structure is subjected to a slight deformation, which causes a change in capacitance, and the sensor converts the change in capacitance into an electrical signal to calculate the acceleration value, which can detect acceleration ranging from ±2g to ±16g.
Gyroscope: The gyroscope adopts rotational inertia technology and is designed with an internal suspension structure. When the sensor rotates, the structure deforms due to the Coriolis force, and then the capacitance change is measured to calculate the angular velocity, which can detect angular velocities in the range of ±250dps to ±2000dps.
Data Fusion: The ICM-20602's sensor chip fuses data from accelerometers and gyroscopes, combining the advantages of each to obtain more accurate displacement, velocity and angle information.
ICM-20602 Product Features
High accuracy and low noise: ICM-20602's gyroscope has a sensitivity error of ±1% and a noise level of 4mdps/√Hz, while the accelerometer has a noise level of 100μg/√Hz, which makes it suitable for high-precision motion tracking applications, even in noisy environments.
Low-power design: In working mode, the current consumption is 3.2mA for accelerometer and 3.6mA for gyroscope; in low-power mode, the current consumption is as low as 8µA, and it contains 1KB FIFO, which reduces the serial bus traffic and allows the system processor to enter the low-power mode after reading the sensor data in bursts to prolong the battery life effectively.
High Sampling Rate and Stability: Supports sampling rates up to 1kHz and maintains high stability during temperature changes through precise temperature compensation technology, ensuring consistent and reliable data sampling.
Strong anti-interference capability: Optimised design reduces environmental interference such as electromagnetic interference (EMI) and electrostatic discharge (ESD), enhancing adaptability in complex electromagnetic environments.
Integrated DMP: With a digital motion processor (DMP), the sensing data can be pre-processed and filtered within the chip, reducing the burden of computing on the main controller and improving system efficiency.
Rich Function Configuration: Sleep mode, wake-up function, programmable interrupt, FIFO, embedded temperature sensor, self-test function, and EIS FSYNC support provide users with more flexibility and convenience.
