The MLX90371GDC-BCC-300-RE is a third-generation Triaxis® position sensor IC, a monolithic device that senses the three spatial components of the applied field (i.e., Bx, By, and Bz) in a non-contact manner by means of an IMC on the surface of the device, supporting the determination of both rotational and linear motion.

The MLX90371GDC-BCC-300-RE is distinguished by the availability of a stray field immunity mode for rotational and linear motion sensing for the first time in a Triaxis® sensor IC. This mode eliminates or significantly reduces the effect on the system of unwanted magnetic fields generated by other magnets or current-carrying conductors. Rotary motion over a 180-degree range can be achieved with a four-pole magnet; linear motion over a 25mm range or more can be achieved with a two-pole magnet.

In addition, the MLX90371GDC-BCC-300-RE is backward compatible with previous generations of Triaxis® products, allowing the use of traditional bipolar magnets with 360-degree rotational measurement capability or linear motion in excess of 25mm to be achieved in the same device, but with no stray field immunity.

The MLX90371GDC-BCC-300-RE is available as an ASIL-B SEooC (Separate Safety Unit - ISO 26262) assembly.

The output transfer characteristics are fully programmable with up to 32 calibration points to meet any specific requirements during the off-line programming of the module assembly.The Melexis Programming Unit PTC-04 is dedicated to communicate with and calibrate the device via the connector terminals (Vdd-Vss-Out).

The MLX90371GDC-BCC-300-RE is suitable for a wide range of non-contact rotary position sensor applications common in automotive and industrial systems. The IC is available in single and dual redundant implementations to cost-effectively meet a variety of application requirements, including safety-critical sensing requirements.
