The MAX17614ATP is a highly integrated source-select switch and ideal diode controller featuring integrated back-to-back N-channel MOSFETs, housed in a compact 4mm × 4mm TQFN package. It is suitable for applications such as joint servos in humanoid robots, multi-power-supply redundancy and distributed sensor power supply scenarios.
The built-in dual N-channel FETs enable seamless OR-gate selection between multiple battery or power supply sources, with reverse current blocking in as little as 140 ns. Conduction losses are significantly lower than those of standard diodes, addressing issues such as switching between primary and backup batteries in robots, as well as damage to servo motors and sensors caused by reverse current during power cuts. It supports remote gating of a single joint power supply via the main control EN pin, facilitating tiered power management for the entire system.
Withstands high-voltage surges of up to +60V and down to -65V; features programmable under-voltage and over-voltage thresholds ranging from 4.5V to 60V, compatible with mainstream 48V lithium-ion power batteries for humanoid robots and multiple low-voltage auxiliary power sources for sensors; Maximum 3A programmable current limiting (adjustable from 0.15A to 3A), with current limiting accuracy of ±3.3% across the full temperature range, covering the power consumption range of single-joint servo drives.
Overcurrent protection supports three modes: automatic retry, continuous current limiting and lockout, catering to the transient surge currents encountered during robot locomotion and grasping; Integrated thermal shutdown and UV/OV/overcurrent fault flag outputs enable the MCU to detect joint power supply anomalies in real time, rapidly reporting them to the motion control system to prevent joint runaway; Wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C, suitable for the heat-generating environments of long-term continuous robotic motion.
A single chip integrates switching, current limiting and protection circuits, significantly reducing the number of peripheral components. The small-sized package saves space on the confined PCBs within robot joints, reduces the volume and weight of distributed power supply modules, and enhances the scope for lightweight design of the entire machine, making it suitable for multi-joint distributed power supply architectures.
