The LTC4372IDD is a high-voltage N-channel MOS-driven ideal diode controller housed in a compact 3mm × 3mm DFN package. It replaces traditional Schottky diodes and is specifically designed for 24V/48V multi-cell, multi-channel servo redundant power distribution scenarios in humanoid robots, addressing critical issues such as system power consumption, heat generation, power supply backflow, and space constraints.
Extends robot runtime and simplifies thermal management. Real-time control of external N-MOS forward voltage drop to ≤30mV significantly reduces heat generation in high-current paths compared to the 0.3V voltage drop of Schottky diodes. Operating quiescent current of just 5 μA and shutdown leakage current of 0.5 μA make it ideal for robots' intermittent motion and standby/sleep modes, reducing unnecessary battery drain. No additional heat sinks required, facilitating lightweight structural design.
Safeguards servo and main control hardware. MOSFET switches off within 0.5-1.5 μs when reverse current occurs. During robot battery insertion/removal, power supply short circuits, or instantaneous switching between parallel power supplies, high-voltage reverse current is rapidly blocked, preventing damage to joint servo motors, vision processing boards, and driver chips. Supports reverse voltage rating of -28 V, withstanding negative voltage spikes during motion.
Wide input range of 2.5V-80V perfectly matches humanoid robots' 24V power batteries, 48V high-voltage bus bars, and 5-12V sensor/auxiliary control power supplies. A single chip can handle both power and low-voltage distribution protection requirements.
Multiple chips connected in parallel form an OR power supply architecture. When the robot's main battery runs low, the system switches seamlessly to a backup battery without interruption, ensuring motion posture and gait control do not experience frame drops or shutdowns. Can drive back-to-back N-MOS transistors, providing both inrush current suppression and load on/off control, mitigating high inrush currents from servo start-up impacting the bus.
DFN3×3 micro surface-mount package occupies minimal PCB area, making it suitable for confined power distribution board layouts in hands, legs, and torso. Wide temperature range of -40°C to 85°C adapts to heat generated by prolonged continuous robot movement and low-temperature outdoor operating environments.
