The AD9778ABSVZ is a dual 14-bit TxDAC+ digital to analog converter with on-chip interpolation, supplied in a 100-lead TQFP with an exposed pad. Two 14-bit cores plus digital interpolation filters let a lower rate digital stream feed a high speed analog output.

Programmable interpolation ratios and an on-chip digital mixer move the signal to the required intermediate frequency, which cuts the FPGA resources and clock domains needed in a transmit chain. Gain and offset are adjustable per channel, so transmit path balance is trimmed digitally.

The differential current outputs of the AD9778ABSVZ drive a transformer or an amplifier stage, and the converter is clocked from a differential input for jitter performance. The exposed pad carries heat into the ground plane, so thermal vias under the device are required.

Digital control and status registers are reached through a serial port, which keeps configuration changes possible without resoldering. Timing, interpolation settings and layout rules are published in the Analog Devices AD9778A data sheet.
