LTC1596-1ACSW Integrated Circuit Chip 16-Bit Multiplying DACs SO-16 Digital To Analog Converters

The LTC1596-1ACSW is a serial 16-bit multiplying digital to analog converter with a current output, supplied in a 16-lead SO package. It is pin compatible with industry standard 12-bit parts such as the DAC8043 and AD7543, so resolution can be upgraded on an existing layout.

INL and DNL are 1 LSB maximum and glitch impulse is 1 nV-s typical, with settling to 1 LSB in 2 microseconds when paired with an external op amp such as the LT1468. Four-quadrant multiplication allows the reference to swing in both directions.

The -1 option in the part number sets power-on reset and the asynchronous clear to midscale, whereas the LTC1595 and LTC1596 versions clear to zero scale. That makes the LTC1596-1ACSW convenient where a bipolar output centred at midscale is the safe default.

A 3-wire SPI and MICROWIRE compatible serial interface drives the part and maximises supply current at only 10 microamps, which suits loop-powered and battery-backed circuits. Multiplying operation covers programmable gain, attenuation and modulation.

The LTC1596-1ACSW is RoHS compliant and lead free, and every order ships with full traceability. Samples and volume pricing are available on request.
