LTC1596BISW Integrated Circuit Chip 16-Bit Multiplying DACs SO-16 Digital To Analog Converters

The LTC1596BISW is a serial 16-bit multiplying digital to analog converter with a current output, supplied in a 16-lead SO package. The ordering code combines the B grade with the SO package, and it is pin compatible with industry standard 12-bit parts such as the DAC8043 and AD7543.

INL and DNL are 1 LSB maximum and glitch impulse is 1 nV-s typical, with settling to 1 LSB in 2 microseconds when paired with an external op amp such as the LT1468. Four-quadrant multiplication lets the reference swing in both directions, so the part handles gain, attenuation and inversion without extra circuitry.

Power-on reset and the asynchronous clear input drive the DAC to zero scale, and the serial output allows several converters to be daisy chained from one 3-wire port.

A 3-wire SPI and MICROWIRE compatible serial interface drives the part, and supply current is only 10 microamps maximum, which suits loop-powered and battery-backed designs. Current output with an external op amp allows the output span and offset to be set by the resistor network around the converter.

The LTC1596BISW is RoHS compliant and lead free, and every order ships with full traceability. Samples and volume pricing are available on request.
