LTC1596CISW SO-16 16-Bit Multiplying DACs Digital To Analog Converter Integrated Circuit Chip

The LTC1596CISW is a serial 16-bit multiplying digital to analog converter with a current output in a 16-lead SO package, ordered in the C grade. It carries the daisy-chain serial output of the LTC1596, so several converters can hang from one 3-wire port.

INL and DNL are 1 LSB maximum and glitch impulse is 1 nV-s typical, with settling to 1 LSB in 2 microseconds when the current output is summed by an LT1468. Four-quadrant multiplication supports bipolar reference swings.

Power-on reset and the asynchronous clear input both drive the output to zero scale, which keeps a control loop at a defined starting point. Supply current is 10 microamps maximum and the part is pin compatible with the DAC8043 and AD7543.

The 16-lead SO body leaves room for the daisy-chain pin and the clear input while staying in a footprint common to 12-bit multiplying converters. The LTC1596CISW is therefore a drop-in resolution upgrade in existing designs.
