AD5201BRMZ10 MSOP-10 SPI Digital Potentiometer Integrated Circuit Chip

The AD5201BRMZ10 is a single programmable resistor with 33 positions in a MSOP-10 package, controlled through a 3-wire SPI-compatible serial input. The wiper taps the programmable resistance at the point set by the loaded code, so resistance between the wiper and either end terminal varies linearly with that code.

End-to-end resistance is 10 kilohm, and the wiper connects directly to both end terminals, which simplifies wiring in rheostat mode. Because the part works from a single +2.7 V to +5.5 V supply or plus or minus 2.7 V dual supplies, it can sit directly in ground referenced ac signal paths.

A 33-position taper keeps the register small and the interface simple where fine resolution is not required, and the power-on midscale preset gives a defined starting attenuation or gain without host intervention.

Rheostat and potentiometer-divider behaviour, including DNL, THD, noise and bandwidth, is fully characterised, so the part can be designed in without extra bench characterisation. The thin package suits space-constrained boards such as PCMCIA cards.
