LTC4301LIDD Hot Swappable 2-Wire Bus Buffer with 1 V Level Translation, 8-Lead DFN, Industrial

The LTC4301LIDD combines 1 V level translation with hot swap protection and puts it in an 8-lead 3 mm x 3 mm DFN rated for -40 C to 85 C. It lets a low voltage processor sit on the same I2C or SMBus as 3.3 V and 5 V devices without an extra translator, and it survives the temperature swings of an industrial enclosure.

SDAIN and SCLIN accept bus pull-ups down to 1 V, while the output side drives the system rail. Because the part is built for live insertion, the card stays isolated from the backplane until the CS pin is asserted, and both lines are precharged to 1 V before the connector mates.

When VCC is 0 V, SDA and SCL present high impedance, so a card that is powered down or being serviced does not load an active bus. All pins carry 10 kV human body model ESD protection, which matters on boards that pass through field service hands.

Clock stretching, arbitration and multi master synchronization are passed through, and timing meets I2C, Fast Mode and SMBus limits up to 400 kHz. The DFN package with exposed pad gives a low inductance ground path on dense industrial boards.
