MAX14854GWE Integrated Circuit Chip 2.75kV Isolated RS485 RS422 Transceiver, SOIC Wide Body

The MAX14854GWE is an isolated RS485/RS422 transceiver that provides 2.75 kV RMS of galvanic isolation for 60 seconds between the cable side driver and receiver and the UART side of the device, breaking ground loops between ports that sit at different ground potentials.

Cable side power comes from an integrated LDO, so the isolated side needs no separate isolated supply. Data rates reach 25 Mbps, and the receiver is a 1/4 unit load, allowing up to 128 transceivers on a common bus.

Protection includes ±35kV human body model ESD on the driver outputs and receiver inputs, ±10kV surge immunity to IEC 61000-4-5, undervoltage lockout that disables the driver when either side supply is out of range, and thermal shutdown. True fail-safe circuitry holds a logic high output when the inputs are shorted or open.

Isolation ratings are 630 V peak maximum repetitive peak isolation voltage and 445 V RMS maximum working isolation voltage, with a projected lifetime above 30 years at rated working voltage.
