LTM2882IV-3 Integrated Circuit Chip Isolated Dual RS232 Transceiver Module 3.3V, 32-Lead LGA

The LTM2882IV-3 is a complete galvanically isolated dual RS232 micromodule transceiver: a single 3.3V supply powers both sides of the interface through an integrated isolated DC/DC converter, so no external isolated supply, transformer or level shifter is needed.

Isolated power of 5V at up to 200mA is generated on the line side, and a separate logic supply pin accepts 1.62V to 5.5V so the module interfaces directly with low voltage processors independently of the main rail.

Data rate is 1Mbps into a 250pF/3k ohm load, 250kbps into 1nF/3k ohm and 100kbps into a full TIA/EIA-232-F load, with true RS232 compliant output levels. The LGA version is 2.82mm tall, so it fits under a chassis lid where a ball grid array would not clear.

Isolation is 2500V rms for one minute (UL-CSA recognized, file E151738, CSA component acceptance notice 5A), continuous working voltage is 560V peak, common mode transient immunity is 30kV/us and the isolated RS232 interface and the barrier withstand ±10kV HBM ESD.

Specified over -40°C to 85°C (I grade) and supplied in a 32-Lead LGA package measuring 15mm x 11.25mm, the parts ship as new stock with full traceability, RoHS compliant and lead free, and samples plus volume pricing are available on request.

The LTM2882IV-3 includes the isolation transformer and the DC/DC converter inside the module, so an RS232 port can be isolated on a board that has only one supply rail and no room for a discrete isolated converter.
