Product Description

ASM2464 is a new generation of USB4/Thunderbolt to PCIe/NVMe Accessory controller based on ASMedia in-house designed PHYs. USB4/Thunderbolt technology enables PCIe and USB protocols encapsulated into the USB4/Thunderbolt fabric and tunneled across USB4/Thunderbolt domains. When connecting to a USB4/Thunderbolt PCIe Tunneled host, ASM2464 can be a solution to support various types of general PCIe devices (e.g. AI controller, external graphics card, PCIe network controller, AHCI RAID controller, xHCI controllers, PCIe packet switch, etc.) in addition to NVMe SSD (e.g. M.2 NVMe SSD, CFexpress, U.2, U.3, etc.)

The ASM2464 USB connection is able to provide data rate at a speed of USB4/Thunderbolt 20Gbps x2 and is compatible with existing legacy USB 3.2 interfaces, as well as Thunderbolt 3. In addition, the downstream port link of ASM2464 is also upgraded to PCIe Gen4 x4. The downstream PCIe lanes are configurable (i.e. PCIe 4 x1, 2 x2, 1 x2+2 x1, and 4 x1) to support up to four PCIe devices. ASM2464 can support 1-to-1/1-to-3 data clone function copying full SSD data from the source drive to the destination drives.
