Product Description Of A8309

The A8309 is a radiation-hardened, 3A, 36V synchronous buck regulator designed specifically for applications such as satellites, space payloads, and Point-of-Load (POL) power supplies. It integrates high-side and low-side power MOSFETs to deliver high efficiency, a programmable switching frequency, and comprehensive protection features.

  • Wide input voltage range: 4.5 V to 36 V
  • Output current capability: 3 A
  • Synchronous rectification: Integrated high-side and low-side MOSFETs for improved efficiency
  • Programmable switching frequency: 200 kHz to 2.2 MHz
  • Adjustable output voltage: As low as 0.8 V, set via an external resistor divider
  • High efficiency: Peak efficiency up to approximately 95%
  • Low quiescent current: Approximately 2.5 mA in active mode, approximately 10 µA in shutdown mode
  • Current-mode control: External compensation, loop-stable and easy to design
  • Programmable soft-start: Limits inrush current
  • Power-good indicator: PGOOD pin
  • Enable control: EN pin
  • External synchronisation: Can be synchronised to an external clock to reduce noise
  • Comprehensive protection: UVLO, OVP, OCP, thermal shutdown
